About GMHRC
The Global Mobile Healthcare Research Consortium, or GMHRC, brings researchers, mobile healthcare programs, community partners, and funders together to develop useful research in community-based care settings. We run the National Mobile Health Survey, publish practical guidance, and help partners develop research questions, plans, and funding strategies.
Founded in 2025, GMHRC works to include communities and care settings that are often underrepresented in health research.
Why GMHRC?
Mobile healthcare leaders need evidence to improve services, make funding decisions, and understand their impact. Researchers need community-based settings that fit their questions and methods. The two groups do not always know how to find or work with each other.
GMHRC helps them connect while the question, design, budget, and timeline can still change. Early planning makes it possible to account for local priorities, staff capacity, research costs, data needs, and the return of results.
What we do
Connect researchers with mobile health programs
We help researchers identify and approach mobile programs whose services, populations, geography, capacity, and priorities fit the proposed work. We help program leaders assess whether a study fits their mission, benefits their community, and provides the resources needed to participate.
Run the National Mobile Health Survey
The National Mobile Health Survey collects data on the operations, finances, and services of mobile health programs across the United States. The May 2026 survey cut includes 142 programs operating 338 mobile units in 38 states.
It provides national data on program operations, services, populations, costs, revenue, and barriers. Findings are published on theMobile Health Industry Dashboard. Response-level data remain confidential.
Publish practical guidance
Our research resources guide researchers and program leaders from early planning and study design through data, privacy, IRB review, and community engagement.
Develop research initiatives with partners
We work with healthcare organizations, researchers, funders, and community partners to shape research questions and pursue the funding needed to carry out the work. This can include new programs designed for evaluation or research from the beginning.
What we have done so far
Care Connect, Southeast Missouri. A $720,000 investment from Aetna Better Health of Missouri supports a mobile women's health program operated by Missouri Highlands Health Care in collaboration with GMHRC. It serves 10 regular community stops.
The National Mobile Health Survey. The May 2026 survey cut includes 142 programs operating 338 mobile units in 38 states, with findings published openly and updated monthly.
Research resources. Thirteen guides cover the operational, regulatory, methodological, and ethical work of mobile health research partnerships.
Who we are
Maria Victoria Ferraris, MSPM, MEd is Executive Director of GMHRC and leads partnership discussions with researchers, mobile healthcare programs, funders, and community organizations.
